Hello, Parents, I wanted to take this opportunity to share the online resource TeachMyMonster with you. This is an online resource that I often utilize as an informal assessment tool for my students. The students play fun games, being asked questions regarding skills we are working on in class, and this site collects the data and makes it available for my eyes only. I love this because I am able to utilize the data collected while the students "play" to help prepare upcoming lessons based on skills I recognize may need reviewed a little longer or vise-versa. This information also allows me to better pinpoint students that might need extra time and practice with certain skills we've reviewed in class. You will not use this resource at home, however, I wanted you to be able to look at it for yourself so you are familiar with the resources I am using with your children. Hello, Parents, I've debated on sharing this resource, SplashLearn, with you this early in the year because I am not super familiar with the site myself. HOWEVER, everything I have found, I really like and I think you will too. So far, my most favorite part of this site are the read alouds. The very best way to encourage students to read and to build their vocabulary is by reading to them as much as possible. And even though I always recommend parents, family, and friends spend time reading to the young children in their lives, it is perfectly fine to supplement those readings with online read alouds. A child can never be read to too often! I hope you will explore this site with me throughout the year. You can visit the SplashLearn website by clicking HERE .
