Understanding Our Online Assessment Rescourse

Hello, Parents, I wanted to take this opportunity to share the online resource TeachMyMonster with you.  This is an online resource that I often utilize as an informal assessment tool for my students.  The students play fun games, being asked questions regarding skills we are working on in class, and this site collects the data and makes it available for my eyes only.  I love this because I am able to utilize the data collected while the students "play" to help prepare upcoming lessons based on skills I recognize may need reviewed a little longer or vise-versa.  This information also allows me to better pinpoint students that might need extra time and practice with certain skills we've reviewed in class.  You will not use this resource at home, however, I wanted you to be able to look at it for yourself so you are familiar with the resources I am using with your children. You can visit the TeachMyMonster site by clicking HERE.

Let's Learn SplashLearn Together!

Hello, Parents, I've debated on sharing this resource, SplashLearn, with you this early in the year because I am not super familiar with the site myself.  HOWEVER, everything I have found, I really like and I think you will too.  So far, my most favorite part of this site are the read alouds.  The very best way to encourage students to read and to build their vocabulary is by reading to them as much as possible.  And even though I always recommend parents, family, and friends spend time reading to the young children in their lives, it is perfectly fine to supplement those readings with online read alouds.  A child can never be read to too often!  I hope you will explore this site with me throughout the year. Singing Along with Jack Hartmann

Hello, Parents, You may hear your students mention Mr. Jack Hartmann from time to time.  Jack Hartmann's YouTube channel is utilized very, very regularly in our classroom.  He has sing-along videos for just about anything you could think of for a Kindergarten curriculum.  I want to provide you with the link to his YouTube channel so that when your student comes home singing songs and asks you to join along, you can look it up on this channel and have a fun sing and dance party like we do during carpet time each morning! You can visit Jack Hartmann's YouTube channel by clicking HERE

We See You, ABCYa!

Hello, Parents, ABCYa is an online resource we will utilize in our classroom quite often.  This site offers fabulous extra practice for Kindergarteners through numerous games under categories: Letters, Numbers, Holidays, Strategies, and Skills.  I appreciate that each of the games on this site meet specific common core standards.  This means that every resource on this site is helping build an educational skill. Welcome Back, Sesame Street!

Hello, Parents, If you grew up around the same time as I did, it's likely you watched the classic Sesame Street on an almost daily basis.  There was just something about that big, yellow bird and that silly, red...well, Elmo.  The Sesame Street website is another online resource that your students AND YOU will enjoy.  This site offers both education based videos and games, as well as fun resources I call "time fillers'.  My own children at home tend to utilize time fillers for about 30 minutes while they are winding down before bed.  I think your students will especially enjoy the Sesame Street site because we will be reading many Sesame Street books in our classroom. You will love Starfall!

Hello, Parents, I'm thrilled to share the online resource Starfall with you because this is one of my favorite sites as a Momma AND Teacher.  Part of why I love Starfall is because there is an entire section JUST FOR KINDERGARTEN!  Is that convenient or what?  Starfall offers resources for every skill we will introduce throughout this school year.  From colors, numbers, and letters to math, reading, sing-alongs, and so much more, you will always find something fun that relates to the information we are discussing in class. You can visit Starfall by clicking HERE

Let me introduce you to PBSKids!

Hello Parents, I know you are each trying to soak up the last little bit of summertime with your sweet children.  I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to various resources available to you and your students throughout their educational journey.  These resources will come in extremely handy to be utilized as additional practice on the skills we will learn throughout this school year. The first tool I would like to bring to your attention is PBSKids.  What I love most about the GAMES section of PBSKids is that our students do not always realize they are practicing educational skills.  The games are fun and children tend to think of them as more a time-killer than educational practice.  It is a great way to sneak in practice, especially for those students that want to leave "school" at school.
