Hello!

Hello and welcome to my classroom blog!

My name is Haley Newton and I want to begin by expressing how excited I am to have each of your students in my class this year.  I cannot wait to get to know your child and help grow their love of learning and education.

This is my first year teaching at Tanner Elementary School, however I previously taught Pre-k in Decatur, Alabama and Kindergarten in Lauderdale County, Alabama before taking a brief hiatus to grow my family.

My husband, Matt and I have three beautiful and energetic kiddos ages 4yrs, 5yrs and 7yrs and they keep us on our toes. We live on a farm in Rogersville, Alabama but we look forward to getting to know everyone in the Tanner community.

I hope you will find this blog as a wonderful resource to keep up with what we are doing in our classroom. I will post a Weekly Newsletter each Friday with information pertinent to the following week at school.  This information will also be sent home in your student's Focus Folder each Friday afternoon.  I know many of you are curious about supply lists.  I promise to post that on this blog as soon as it is ready.

I will be posting photos of our classroom soon.  I want your child to feel as confident as possible on their first day of kindergarten and often knowing what to expect helps them feel more prepared.  I will also post a special video the week before school starts so your child can see my face, hear my voice, and know who I am before they get here on their first day.

We have so many fun and captivating activities planned, and I am looking forward to a fantastic year!

Mrs. Newton

Welcome Back, Sesame Street!

Hello, Parents, If you grew up around the same time as I did, it's likely you watched the classic Sesame Street on an almost daily basis.  There was just something about that big, yellow bird and that silly, red...well, Elmo.  The Sesame Street website is another online resource that your students AND YOU will enjoy.  This site offers both education based videos and games, as well as fun resources I call "time fillers'.  My own children at home tend to utilize time fillers for about 30 minutes while they are winding down before bed.  I think your students will especially enjoy the Sesame Street site because we will be reading many Sesame Street books in our classroom. You can visit the Sesame Street website by clicking HERE
